Accommodations
**Update 7/31: A number of hotels in the area have sold out. There are a number of options still available though if asked, we'd probably point people to the Inn at Mystic, the Taber Inn or the Mystic Hilton. Details below.**
While the wedding itself will take place in North Stonington, CT, the are numerous other quaint New England towns worth visiting or even staying in.
Westerly, RI is the town where Mar's parents met, and is best known some its small fire districts with private beach access such as Shelter Harbor and Weekapaug. Anyone staying in either of these areas will have access to Weekapaug Beach on the Atlantic as well Quonochontaug Pond, a saltwater pond where many youngsters learn to sail. Weekapaug is also known, in come circles, as the inspiration behind the Phish song that shares its name. This connection may or may not have allowed Mar to be tricked repeatedly into seeing this band.
While there aren't many hotels in Weekapaug (the Weekapaug Inn is closed for renovations this summer), some guests have opted to rent a house and stretch out their visit. While houses can start at $1000/week and get much higher, the off-season in Weekapaug starts right after Labor Day, so there are deals to be found. The two real estate agents we've enjoyed with working are:
Watch Hill, RI is a favorite for families with small children as it has a very well know old school carousel which happens to also have a ring grabbing game - fun for hours (except after Labor Day when it shuts down for the season - sorry). There is also plenty of shopping in the small shops on Main Street and an old historic lighthouse if you're into old, historic illumination. And who isn't? Oh, Mar also claims that you can find a pretty decent ice cream cone there as well. Apparently there's an inn in Watch Hill, called, suprisingly enough, The Watch Hill Inn (starting at $300/nt). Can't say we know all that much about this place, but the pictures on the virtual tour look pretty nice. Seems like a place that might require a phone call if you'd like to learn more.
Stonington, CT is just across the border from Watch Hill and just south of the wedding site. If you do nothing else on this trip - well, nothing else other than attend our wedding - you should have breakfast at Noah's. It's deliciousness can be found at 113 Water St.
According to Mar, Mystic, CT is famous for two things: Mystic Pizza (that's a movie, right?) and the aquarium. And she works at Google, so who am I to argue.

- The Inn at Mystic ($195-$325) has several different buildings, restaurant, and tennis courts perched high atop a hill with views of the water. We're fairly certain this used to be called the Mystic Motor Inn.
- The Taber Inn & Suites ($210-$235) is also along Route 1 just east of downtown Mystic.
- The closest major hotel is the Hilton Mystic ($215-$299) which is just down the road from the aquarium.
- The other nearby major hotel is Mystic Marriott ($249-$319) which is located on the western side of Mystic close to Groton, but is only 10 miles from Westerly, RI.
- The Inn at Lower Farm ($120-$175) also appears to still have 3 of 4 rooms available as does The Morgan Inn ($139-$169).
